A pianist's nightmare!
My day must have been going a little too well! With company coming tonight, I was right on track - house is ready, food is almost done, getting ready to work on the centerpiece, kids were quietly resting, and I had even had the time to take a power nap!
And then it happened - -
After blowing out a candle, I accidentally knocked it over and spilled hot wax all over my piano! Yes, me - the one who wouldn't let the President himself set a glass on my piano, sent hot wax all over the poor instrument. (BTW, the candle was on a ledge in the kitchen - not on the piano.)
I do not know if the piano still works; I have not had the nerve to push the ON button. I think I will wait until my company leaves. No sense in them having to suffer my drama with me! If it doesn't, I think I will have the hardest cry I've had since. . .well. . .since my Grandma died four years ago. After all, this would be like losing one of my best friends! You pianists can understand, I am sure!

So sorry about your accident, I hope everything still works ok! BTW, that's not the same piano that I used to have is it? Or maybe I'm just going senile in me old age, I thought I remembered you buying mine.
Oh no! I completely understand since I have one also! Nothing sets on it either but pictures and lamps! So sorry about the freak incident. Hope it plays for you -- let us know what happens!
Yes, Lori, it is the piano I bought from you guys. :-) Sigh. . .my poor piano. I still haven't tried to play it since the wax is not completely removed. I am sure I will get it done later today. In some ways I am putting off the dreaded moment of truth. I am so afraid it will not work.
Sorry to hear about the accident. If anything happened to my piano, I would probably die.
Ohhhhhh.....groan......I'm feeling your pain and praying your piano is not scarred for life!
I am so sorry, Marva. I know how you feel about your piano, and how it is not used for ANYTHING to sit on.
So sorry... there may be hope for it yet... remember when you lived upstairs from me, and water mysteriously came pouring through my ceiling and into my bedroom where my keyboard was (for some reason) on my bed... I took it apart and let it dry... and, amazingly, it survived. I do hope that your piano is not ruined... It looks like the one you gave me lessons on... so many memories there! Just wanted to let you know I prayed for your piano. Love ya!
(blubbering in sympathy) Eek! And I thought it was bad when I dumped green wax down the diningroom wall...
So glad to read that your piano works. My digital board blew a few months ago and I've yet to call the company and see what it will cost to even look at it much less repair it!
