The State of the Union
I will indulge you, Dear Readers, with these long awaited photos. (Taken by Seth.) In the top one I was still attempting to look civil after a night of tossing and turning. This new "form" of mine does prevent me from my normal nighttime crashing!
Now for all who have been kind and called, asked or emailed as to my condition, I will give a little update. . .
~I am 31 weeks pregnant.
~I am about to reach the heaviest weight I have ever been in my entire life. :-)
~The nausea has been gone for weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
~The nausea has been replaced with things like sleeplessness, irritability (messed up hormones), heartburn, indigestion, extreme pain in the lower body, headaches, abdominal muscle pain, lower back aches, HUGE appetite :-), very tired legs, bouts of dizziness and shortness of breath, and spells of weakness. (I think that covers all of them. Ha)
~The baby is moving down. A bit obvious in the way my clothes are fitting, and I went from feeling like I was smothering to thinking my pelvic bones are going to shatter any day now.
~The baby is quite active and lets me know that it does not like some of my attempted sleeping positions.
~My lower body pain is so severe that at times, I cannot walk. It also is a chore to reach down and pick up something that is on the floor. Now, I do not know if I suddenly have butterfingers, but it seems like I am dropping a good deal of things these days. And when you are as tall as I am, the floor is a loooooong distance from your hand. (Especially when there is a big obstacle in the way!)
~On a more positive note, there are some things for which I am very thankful:
1. The heartburn has started to subside. (I believe that is due to prayers of kind people.)
2. At least my legs and feet do not swell.
3. My hormones go wacky during pregnancy and not during the rest of my unpregnated life. (Troy is thankful for that, too! Hee. Hee.)
4. I have a God who smiles on being fruitful and multiplying.
5. I have a wonderful and understanding husband!
6. I have two little boys who are HUGE helps to their mommy!
7. My family has been buying loads of things for me since I got rid of 95% of my baby stuff before my move to SC.
8. I have lots of friends and fellow bloggers who bring me cheer.
9. Thanks to Troy's recent requesting of prayer for me, there are many people praying for me, and I can feel a physical difference.
10. I love big and chubby babies and have a feeling this one falls into that category! (We have had a 9 lbs 13oz and a 9lbs 5 oz.)

I dearly love babies and can't wait to hold this one,

but I am still terrified of delivering babies and the recovery!!!!!

You look really cute! I am 5'3" so I was a butterball when I was pregnant! So glad you're feeling better and I can't believe your already 31 weeks!

I was a watermelon with legs for each pregnancy. You're adorable! Glad you're feeling better. It's almost over! (Think drugs, think drugs, think drugs...)

Forgot to mention that some people ask when my "twins" are due. Yes, complete strangers ask me!

You are ADORABLE!!!!! Just so you know, I would not have gone behind your back to post a picture, but I am so glad you did. The "joys" of pregnancy are the reason I'm happy to not go thru it again. I do miss having a baby sometimes now, and when Scott hears that it makes him happy that I can't have anymore. I know in your body it doesn't seem like the end is near, but you've come along way!
I love the clock on the wall!

Oh, about the singing comment, would you like for me to come visit when the baby is born so I can sing and soothe you the entire time?

Martha, I think you look so cute! I'm so glad the nausea has been gone but sorry to hear that it's been replaced with so many other unpleasant things! Tums made alot of money off me when I was pregant with Bryce. I didn't dare leave the house without them. I finally caught on and bought a bottle just for my purse and one for beside my bed! BTW, I love the pictures where I can see inside your house. You do such a good job with your decorating. I hope you sleep better tonight!

Martha, I think you look cute. I'm sorry you are still uncomfortable. In my pregnancies I felt A LOT better when I was over the nausea stage, even though like you said, there are always things that make one uncomfortable. I know what you mean about not being able to bend over near the end. Since my Noah weighed in a 10 and 1/2 lbs. and was 12 days late, I couldn't bend over much for the last month or so carrying him. I was HUGE!

It won't be long and that adorable baby will be in your arms.

Love, Heather =)

Hmm...maybe I'll just adopt....these references to scary birthing processes are making me worried!

I think you are looking great for 31 weeks. I like belly photos! :)
I can well remember feeling like Jillian was going to "fall out" with every step I took toward the end. Good luck with everything. You're almost there!

P.S. Have you reached the stage where EVERYONE wants to touch or rub your belly? Some women don't like it at all, but I didn't mind....with one exception being when a male rubbed mine (not a family member or a close friend). I just smiled and said (hint, hint), "The baby is doing just great!"

You are BEAUTIFUL, Martha! I love the shirt you're wearing in the top pic. Yes, belly pix are awesome; thanx for posting some. I loved every bit of my pregnancy (w/ the one exception of sciatic nerve pain) but I was blessed because I had none of the normal concerns. God is good! Also, we don't see quite eye to eye on the delivery *grin*. No more than 2 minutes after Clay had been birthed, I looked at his father and said, "I want to do this again!" *lololol* Yes, there's nothing like an epidural and the instant amnesia you get the first time you hold your newborn. Blessings and love to you.

Thanks for posting pictures of yourself so I don't feel so funny with the ones of me on my blog!!

I'll pray that the next 9 weeks fly by and that all goes well for you in your delivery so you won't be so terrified! :-) So glad that you have a good supportive & understanding husband, helpful boys and family, and lots praying for you. I'm sure it would be a lot worse without those!

So glad your nausea is gone, but sorry for the other problems you are facing. I know what some of the indigestion, back pain, shortness of breath & bending to the floor problems are like! I found out it was best not to eat after supper so I could lay in bed without indigestion.

Best wishes to you and can't wait to see that new baby (or at least pictures)!!!!

Oh, you ARE great with child... but, you sure look cute! So glad that you posted the nice pictures! I have terrible heartburn and eat tums almost every night, and sometimes during the day! I have horrible sciatic pain which is excruciating sometimes, and I have this lower body pain now too, but guess what?! It happens even while I try to sleep. I think this may be one of the most painful pregnancies I have ever had! If we lived closer, we could have a sympaphy party together... but, when we get to hold our beautiful babies, it will be worth it all, won't it! (Then, I want to get skinny, really skinny! Ha!)

Martha, I'm glad you posted pictures, I think you look cute.
Glad your nausea is gone, but sorry about the other pain/discomfort.
Take care

Thanks for all the "cute" comments. :-) Still have a hard time thinking of that as an adjective of me right now!
Here's some answers to your questions. . .
LES, last time Steve Green sang while I was in labor; think I'll stick with him. (And with as long as the labor was, the entire staff should have heard the Gospel message 42 times! :-)
JULIE, I took so many TUMS while nauseated with Seth that they make me nauseated to look at them. :-( Thank you for the nice house comment. I do have fun decorating.
HEATHER, I had forgotten Noah was so big!!! Wow!
AIMEE, You may be a "lucky" one and thrive on pregnancy. Babies are one of God's greatest gifts to you and your husband. :-)
TAMRA, I think only two or three people have patted my tummy this time. Maybe I look like I will bite their hand or something. Ha.
BECKY, I had an epidural with the C-section, but not with the other. :-( So, after a 36 hour labor, there was no amnesia! Loved every bit of that baby, but I thought I would ground him for the first 15 years!
JEANETTE, I am still jealous of your labors! :-) I get indigestion all day long no matter what I eat. Sometimes it is worse at night.

A few more weeks and you'll be to the stage where people say, "You're still here?" Don't ya just want to slap them! Like you have a choice in the matter! :)
You look great. Hope the next few weeks fly by for you.

Isn't family great (thinking of the baby presents)? When we moved from MI to IN I had NO plans for another child and we thought we were moving to a smaller apt. So I sold everything under 24 months including beautiful dresses and sleepers worn only a few times each. I cried when I got pg unexpectedly. Not b/c it was another girl but b/c all I could think of was the loss of those clothes!
