Caution: Brain cells at work
The day has arrived! August 1, 2007 marked the beginning of another school year for us. Seth has entered the Second Grade, and Ethan is doing a bit of Preschool work. It seems early, but Seth ended school around May 4th. I told him that I wanted to get many days accomplished before the baby was born. He was so excited to start!
My little scholars studying away. . . I love watching them work and learn! These are some of those moments I will always treasure.
Poor Ethan. . . He seemed a bit lost when he was finished and suddenly had to entertain himself without his brother. Those two usually play for hours together, so it will be an adjustment for him.

Hey! We are all thinking alike! I went ahead and started Faithy on a preschool book I got from Walmart... it covers almost eveything... except the listen/Bible class... if nothing else it gives me Mommy/Faithy time. She is only three, so it's not like her work has to be perfect, but she's getting the main ideas quite well. I started her on Monday... I, too, was hoping to have most of her book, if not all, done by baby's arrival, then we could shift gears... I also wanted to start Charity's potty training before the baby comes... She is still a baby to me, and I am not sure I am ready to try... so far I haven't tried anything but reading a potty book to her. We'll see how it goes... I have had some older women point out how they had their babies out of diapers by now... one realitive acted surprised I still had her in diapers and that was a couple of months ago! Poor baby Charity!
I've enjoyed having Connor home this summer, but I'm ready for the routine of school now. Besides, I'm going to take a couple days and see if I can get Kent potty trained before the poopy drawers kill me!
Wow--time for school already. My girls start in 3 weeks which is too soon for me!! I love the routine it brings but miss them.
I know my day is coming. Madelyn is two so we have three more years. Good luck on the school year.
Wow. I admire your enthusiasm and I'm also thankful I don't have to get quite such an early start! :) I'm not quite ready yet! I ordered all my books last week and now I'm organizing our home school room. The panic I originally felt, is beginning to turn into excitement as I begin to get things ready. I love to teach them, but I just want to be able to get all my other work done as well. I'm just wondering if your home school room has to make a quick change into a nursery?? How exciting! Also, how does Ethan like the Lite Brite? I've thought about getting the kids one, but for a while I wasn't sure I could trust Caleb around the pegs. I think I could now. Does each picture take a long time?
I think it's a great idea to start now since my new baby cousin will be coming this year. My boys are so ready for school to start (and so am I). Aaron needs the routine back!
I thought for a minute, "What, she's starting already?" That is a great idea to go ahead and get things started so you can take a break when the baby is born. I admire you for homeschooling, I just don't think I'm cut out for it, or my daughter for that matter!
How smart you are for starting early with a new one coming soon! It's hard to believe summer is almost over.
You must have more patience than me, Sarah. I am not really into teaching preschool on a regular basis. I am just doing Ethan because he is 4 1/2 and has a Wiggle Worm inside of him. :-) I thought it would:
1. Help him learn to sit and concentrate more.
2. Make SS easier for him to attend.
3. Give the two of us more quality time.
4. Help me understand his style of learning so I will be better equipped next year for the real thing.
Nancy,
You should see my homeschool room. . . It now is 1/2 nursery. We ought to have the smartest baby with all the school it will attend in its first year of life. Ha.
The Lite Brite pictures don't take too long for Seth. Ethan makes his own reagrdless of the pattern on the page. :-) I just found a travel sized one today. It is so cute!
